In Part One, the physical description of the village of Newcombe was based on a pretty little community in south western Ontario during the 1940's. Important events such as the Christmas Eve church service, the harvesting of the crops and Devil’s Night in the village were told to me by my parents. The hamlet of Abereiddy, Wales, does indeed exist as does the little cottage tucked into the hillside seen only at a particular time during the day.
